I need my Mackey fix. Anyone know when this is coming out in Region 2? It's been out for R1 for a while now.

NM. Found the wiki page, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Shield#DVD - could be anything from 3 to 8 months from the R1 release which was March 27th...

Considering it took a couple of years to get past season 2, I wouldnt hold my breath.

i just finished season 3 last night and it was stunning.Season 4 is now on order.I thought I would have forgot so much with such a long gap in my viewing(I`ve only ever watched it on dvd)but the characters are so wel written that it all came back within seconds.

I'm tempted to chip the DVD player or buy a cheap R1 to get around it.

It's fairly ridiculous that it takes so long to get the latest released on R2.

Season 5 is £23.99 at CDWOW (Region 1).

Cheapest I found for seasons 3+4 (Region 2) are €35.99 each at Sendit.com

Do it. I can't understand why people would limit themselves to a R2-only player. R1 generally come out quicker (and sometimes exclusively) and are nearly always considerably cheaper. To top it off, they're not even expensive to buy! The cost of getting one is offset after the savings on about two TV box sets.

Be aware that the R1 releases of The Shield are not widescreen. Its the only reason I`ve been sticking with the R2 releases.

Indeed, this is my reason for getting Region 2 also.

Check your DVD player here, could be a simple fix to make it region free http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks

The Shield is very good and well worth getting, I've been meaning to start watching it again from the beginning. I particularly liked the Co-Pilot episode, funny to see Vic and Shane wearing suits like regular detectives. Pity the R1 DVDs aren't in widescreen though, that's why I only have the first two seasons yet. I have to get season 3 & 4 now that they are on R2
