I've been planning to do this since I got my EOS 400D,

Basically I'm planning on heading out to the country for a evening, putting my laptop on the lowest power setting I can manage (does 2-3hrs+ with normal use anyway) and taking a picture every 30 or60sec for an hour or two as the sun is setting.

Thing is I want to join them together to make a time lapse video, any suggestions?

You can buy converter from your car to 230 Volts, so you would be not limited by the batteries.
Get very heavy and very steady tripod and a book to read :-)

I've been wanting to try this too. Does anyone know if there's any program apart from Nikon Capture that will work with a nikon camera?

Batterys shouldn't be an issue, the camera lasts bloody ages on its battery and my macbook lasts ages if I turn the screen, bluetooth, wifi off and leave it sit there taking photos from the camera via the canon software.

That software seems decent enough, while I do have a XP machine, any similar software that will run on a mac? :)

[EDIT] OK, looking at GBTimelapse it would appear that covers everything but asll I really need is software to join all the photos together as I can get the canon software to take all the photos for me
