    Hi all,

Sorry didnt know where to post this but was wondering if anyone could shed light on this. I was in hospital for 3 days last week, and Im aware that my VHI (which is plan B through work) covers my hospital stay... However, I had 3 doctor visits the previous week before I got bad, and I have to visit the doctor one last time tomorrow to finish off some paper work. Does my VHI cover any of these doctor visits (2 care doc and 2 GP in total). It will add up to €220 or there abouts.

Again I apologize but didnt know where else to post this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks,
    Trilla.

You should ask the doctors or ring VHI.
I'm on plan B myself but never had to use it *touches wood*

Iirc, as long as you have the receipts, it'll cover the GP visits, but not the caredoc?

Depends if you have day to day cover on your policy or not. If you do then the GP costs should be partially covered, you'll have to wait till the end of the policy year anyway to claim and in order to do so you'll need the receipts (if you didn't get them at the time you should be able to have them re-issued).

If you don't have day to day cover on your policy then I'm afraid you'll have to pay for those GP visits yourself. I'm really not too sure what VHI call their day to day cover there days. If you're not sure what kind of cover you have just give them a ring.

im plan a with options and as far as i know it doesn`t cover it all!! get the reciepts from the doctor and ring vhi and ask them. i think they do an end of year thing!!

Your best bet would be to call VHI. There is a lot of small print in these policies so you'll wnt to have all your information straight. Call them.

Moved from AH. Hopefully someone here will be able to help you.

You only get back GP visits (e20 per visit) on the VHI Lifestages plan. Plan B only covers hospital stays.

    OP: see http://www.vhi.ie/downloads/

and select the Claim form down a bit and have a gander at what u can reclaim: u may not exceed the annual deductable but see anyway,

The other point to remeber is that u can file a Med 1 for ur PAYE tax return for any unrecovered expenses.

    HTH

ps VHI claim must be made within 90 days of the end of your plan year

u do that first and then when the stuff comes back u do the trax claim.
u dont need to send in the receipts to the tax man but u do need to keep them for 6 years

on the upside, you can fill out a med 1 form and get the tax back at the end of the year.
