I cant get through on the phone to setanta but from what I have read am i right in assuming i need to subscribe to sky first and then subcribe to setanta?? that makes it expensive eg €21.50 basic for sky plus €18.00 for setanta = 49.50pm before sept price increase. thats £26 stg pm!!

    too dear for me.

No. You do not have to subscribe to Sky in order to get Setanta. See email i received today..

    Thank you for your e-mail.

I can confirm that you do not need an active Sky subscription in order to receive the Setanta service.

Providing you have Sky digital equipment and a viewing card number we can send the signal to, it is possible to subscribe to our service. If you do not have a viewing card we can supply one by calling our Customer Services Team on the number below. Our lines are open from 8.00 am to midnight, seven days a week.

If further information or assistance is required, please call our Customer Services team on the number below. Our lines are open from 8.00 am to midnight, seven days a week.

I have a UK FTV card registered to an address I used to live in over there. As discussed in a different thread I assume it's not possible to get Setanta Ireland on this card. However could I pretend I dont have a card and get them to send me another one? It'd be a pain in the arse to swap cards every time I wanted to watch Setanta, but given the Sat 3pm games I cant see why I'd want a UK subscription!

Since you already have a card and still know the address, maybe you could get Setanta activated on that card, as per the reply sent to givecredit above.

I assume that as they think the card is in the UK, they'll only let me register for Setanta UK (as someone asked in the other Setanta on Sky thread). I guess I could give it a go!

Seems like there's a need for a Setanta sticky.

Yes, if you subscribe with this card you will be charged Stg£9.99 per month and only get 46 prem matches. If you want the 79 games you be better of ringing setanta and looking for a ROI card. It just means swapping cards when you want to watch setanta, or get a second box!!

guess ill be giving setanta a ring for a viewing card.

    Hi GiveCredit.

Do you know the cheapest way of me being able to get a basic SKY Card?

I have the basic 'Sky' box, and i'm currently watching all the free 'freeview' channels, however i now want to get Setanta, who advise me I need a basic 'Sky Card No' to enable them to link the Setanta service to.

Hence i'm looking for the cheapest possible way to obtain a basic SKy Card.

    Any ideas?

Ask the Setanta agent (nicely...) to get his line manager. Setanta can supply this card but the front-line agents do not know how. I got one off them as recently as September this year. You then need to call when it arrives to give them the number and complete the order.

Oddly enough the card actually comes direct from Sky, on a "Welcome to Digital Television" letter (where it normally has "Welcome to Sky".

That connection fee is a joke

Best thing about Sky Sports - you can turn it on and off at ease

Will buy the card off you. €10 up front and €10 if I get Setanta(Ireland) successfully activated. Have previously tried unsuccessfully subscribing to Setanta using UK cards etc thus my slight reservation. Let me know...
