Title says it all really, I am thinking about trying to get a Vostro, (extremely well priced compared to Inspiron) ,but my question is can a home user order a Dell Vostro? I know that VAT must be added to the price but are there any other restrictions other than that?

If its the same as ordering a desktop through the small business bit then no.. Just use a company name when asked, tis what i did...

I dont think so. I have just ordered two vostro's. A 1400 laptop and a 200 desktop. Both through Dell small business. I just gave my name as the business name. They didnt seem to care at all. Now I am just waiting for that interlink van...

was just about to buy one myself, then realised its a month waiting list to get one.
someone i know who works there told me that its only been out a month or so and its not guaranteed to be a month....

e.g if something goes wrong, they dont have great experience with them yet so it could push your delivery date a few more weeks.

but other than that, lovely looking laptop, amazing specs for the price.

i decided to go with an inspiron.

Right. Ordered my Vostro 1500 on July 14th and got it on the 6th of August. The reason for the delay was that there was a shortage of LCD screens. When I was looking over the web I saw lots of complaints of people not getting driver discs, vista disc or power cables. I got a european power cord but after an e-mail to my CAM and a phone call, I had the right one the next day.

The laptop itself is very nice and the speakers sound much better than the laptop I was using before this one(fujitsu siemens). I chose the 9 cell battery, bit of a mistake because it sticks out at the back and looks a bit nasty. As for the OS, I opted for Vista Ultimate and am happy enough with it - I really don't know why people were complaining about it at all. I also opted for built in bluetooth and a bluetooth headset - very good idea because it is working brilliantly - It is very handy to have that wireless connecting and the headset sounds great.

All in all, if you don't mind waiting, I recommend this notebook fully. AND, I ain't a business but still get the perks.
