    Oops ... hadn't checked out the website .. :)

Cheers ... for the info :)

BTW ... I'm having trouble seeing it as a FreeCom drive ... ? I see the SUMO disk ... and above that one is a 250gb Freecom ... but the SUMOdisk is a different brand ?? (possibley I've just missed something)

Think I'll probably get one of the Western Digital Elements drives tomorrow ... costs a bit more (€160) .. but gets good reviews from

  • Does anybody know what kind of protection you have with buying from Argos? I know there's a something day returns on items in their original packaging but what if you take it out of the packaging use it for about a week and it then stops working? Who do you go to?

I've never had to deal with them first hand in returning anything, but I've heard from friends that they have a superb returns policy.
    Returns and Refunds
We're committed to selling high-quality products we hope you'll enjoy using but we also know that, for one reason or another, there may be a time when you need to exchange or return something you've bought.

    If I change my mind?

    * Most things we sell are covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee. Just return them to any store, unused in their original undamaged packaging, in a saleable condition, with the receipt, and we'll give you a refund.
    * If you don't have your receipt, as long as you have proof of purchase, we'll exchange the item or give you a refund with vouchers.
    * If you'd like to return something we've delivered, just call us and we'll collect it for free. Your order number will count as your receipt.
    * We're sorry but some items like earrings, foot spas and dental products can't be exchanged or refunded for hygiene and safety reasons, unless they're faulty.
    * To protect your personal security, we're also unable to accept returns on some non-faulty imaging and recording products such as MP3 players and digital cameras.
    * If a product is excluded from our 30-day money-back guarantee, it is clearly marked with a †
    * Our 30-day money-back guarantee does not affect your statutory rights.

If there's a fault with the product?

    We've made it easier!

    * If you bring it back to us within 30 days with your proof of purchase, we'll give you a replacement or a refund.
    * If you've had the product for up to 1 year, we'll repair it or, if that's not possible, give you a replacement or, if that's not possible, a refund.
    * This doesn't affect your statutory rights. .

Got the Argos one yesterday. I doesn't stand like others, goes flat on the desk cause the sides are angled which doesn't make for silent operation or free space on the table. Put up against a toshiba laptop and another iomega 500Gb that I got on sale for around 200 euros about 4 months ago, it's definitely the loudest thing in the room. A low pitched vibrating sound winding up and down up and down!!, It gets a little too warm for my liking, I wouldn't be too comfortable having it plugged in full time. It's storage after all, i'm using it mainly for movies, photos and music, so it's really just for filling up and putting away.

I bought this at the weekend and am very happy with it. It's of a fairly good build quality as in it's certainly not flimsy. It has 4 rubber feet which help it stick to whatever surface you may opt to lay it on, however the USB cable provided is very short so you may wish to buy an extension cable if you plan on placing it away from the PC. I've only been transferring files from a damaged hard drive since I got it, so I can't really comment on the write speed but I've had no problems with playing back anything from it whilst transfering files over to it. While I'm sure they could have made it quieter by including some form of sound proofing to the casing, it isn't overly loud and I've also found that it doesn't generate too much heat.

Overall I'm very happy, although had I not needed it so urgently (Storage drive was failing) I would have probably opted for the Seagate FreeAgent which is on Komplett for €127.50, excluding delivery.
