Not a Merc' fountain of knowledge or lover, but 2 things immediately spring to my mind here, so that's just my €0,02:

    (i) To my (limited) knowledge, I thought AMG was "making AMG Mercs", so taking a stock Merc from Merc, then adding styling & whatnot plus engine/suspensions tune etc.

The 'factory-fitted AMG styling' in the ad (but nothing about mechanics or pedigree) makes me think it's an AMG lookalike, not an AMG as such. But of course I may be entirely wrong.

(ii) One I'm not (wrong about), however, is why the (very expensive) full respray on a €9k, 14 year old car? I'd be cautious and try and spot the crash-repaired car...

    Nice. I'd prefer the 190E Cosworth 16v 2.3 or 2.5 though.

€10k seems a bit pricey to me for a 14 year old 2.0 litre claimed AMG 190. If it was the collectable 190E Cosworth then possibly. All just my opinion of course.

Yeah the factoy never made a 190E "AMG"

It does look well, but with a 6 month old respray you would A. need to know whats it's covering up, B. Its not on there long enough to know how good the quality is in terms of how long it will last !

Somebody spent a right few bob on it and now want to get it all back !

Its too dear, despite the low miles, and as mentioned a factory 190E Cosworth 2.3/2.5 16V would be far superior in every respect AND you could get one on the road far cheaper !

If that car was maintained flawlessly, had a full MBSH, had the same mileage AND was a Cosworth it might be worth similar €7,500 !

    Nice but I think I would look into a 2.3 16v or 2.5 first.
I imagine you'd have plenty of time - that will not sell in a hurry I imagine!

Just had a quick google around and theres plenty of UK cosworths which even when VRT'ed are cheaper than this.

As MercMad said it sounds like someone's trying to recoup the price of the respray

tis a 190 E with AMG bodykit, none of the mechanics, nice kit though including the dials, but effectively a 2 litre merc won't be the quickest boy on the road.

Thats a standard m102 2.0 engine with duplex chain. Its good for 122 bhp and the AMG bit refers only to the very expensive bodykit and interiour trim. If you want a really pretty 190e then thats the one to buy but the price as others have said is nuts!

That said the m102 engine is strightforward and easy to maintain, reasonably DIY friendly, a Cossie on the other hand will proberly have been trashed to some degree unless the seller can prove otherwise.

    Mike.

All AMGs I have seen (C36 AMG & E55 AMG) had plaques on the centre console denoting that they were AMGs. They also had a production number on the plaque.

2 litres does not give you an AMG, so I would say nay,

lots of real tasty AMG's to be had across the border. if you can handle the running costs;)

i mean for the same money (plus vrt sadly)
