is anyone else having problems updating firefox to the latest version. every time it goes to update i get the message 'one or more files could not be updated. please make sure all other applications are closed and that you have permission to modify files. then restart firefox and try again'
the thing is, im the administrator on my machine and the 'close applications' is crap as it tried to update this morning when i switched the computer on, i.e nothing was running
    any help owuld be appreciated

Have you tried updating by downloading the executable and running that instead of trying to update. Or is firefox still open in your running processes while updating. i mean firefox.exe not the updater

ah..so are you saying i should close it then end it as a process as well then restarting to see if the update goes through

its worth a try, the update process should be seperate to the firefox.exe process so it might work. could be wrong though.

Or better yet instead of letting it autoupdate try clicking on Help>Check for updates and see if it will update that way. I never let it autoupdate i just download the updated version and run it that way
