    Hi guys, i need to get an MRI on my ankle. problem is that i moved jobs recently and lost insurance cover and i have not had time to getting around to signing up.

    is there anywhere in dublin or cork that would be sutable (Also cheaper would be good too like)

    There are loads of radiology clinics dotted about the place, yellow pages is your friend, however, of all scans, MRI's are the most expensive unfortunately.

    why not sign back up from when your cover was terminated with your last job, should be covered then, no break in cover !

    i had a mri last year. i rang around a few places - mater private, blackrock clinic, both places quoted different prices, i had it done in the end at Drogheda Hospital but i discovered after i was not covered by VHI to have a mri scan done in Drogheda......

    Had this scan done yesterday and i was told that i should be entitiled to claim some back from the tax man?

    is this possible?

    as far as i know, anything not covered by your insurance comp can be claimed back through a med 1 form... may be open to correction
