    Can someone identify this one?

I haven't seen one like it around the house before.

    Thanks...

    Constructive...

    I'll terminate it immediately.

I was actually bitten by something in the house about a month ago. My leg turned purple and swelled up. I was wondering if this might be the culprit, but it's a bit small. Steatoda Nobilis has been seen in Dublin but this doesn't exactly match the description.

Either way it's unusual, wouldn't mind knowing a bit more about it.

    ... ...it's missing a leg? I only count 7.

How can you tell? I thought there were no poisonous spiders in Ireland, although maybe gobalization, trade and the need for exotic pets has changed that.:)

... ...at least it wasn't this spider:

The more I research this, the more I feel it is of the Pholcus genus and could be Pholcus phalangioides.

    I don't think it's a spider.

I'm guessing harvestman - this pic is of a Paroligolophus agrestis

Great discovery Capt'n Midnight! I questioned whether or not it was a spider also but I couldn't escape the fact that it had more than six legs. As it turns out, however, this still belongs to the class Arachinida along with spiders and other 8-legged creatures such as scorpions and ticks.

HOWEVER, this guy still appears to have one leg missing... ...Maybe Kamobe plucke it off before taking the picture... ...

Yeah, looks like a harvestman alright, easiest way to tell is that they second pair of legs tend to be the longest.

All spiders are poisonous, the ones here just aren't potent in any shape or form because their prey is generally smaller than them and/or susceptible to lower doses of venom. No point producing super venom like a black widow if you're only eating blue bottles.

I know :P. Just disgusted by spiders so much that I went all freaky and posted... then calmed down lol. Actually, haven't seen one of these spiders in years.
