    Hi All,

Does any know of any software that you can use to prevent people from saving say files with the ext .mp3 or .wav etc in win 2003 r1 ?
Either a built in tool or a 3rd party program ?

Most commercial antivirus apps will allow you to block all files with a certain extension.

In Group Policy you can also remove My Music from start menu and IIRC disable media player. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/292504

The way REAL PLAYER insists on putting a "Free music and games" icon on the desktop and not having an automatic uninstall means it is a disaster for corporate use IMHO

Is there a "File Server Resource Manager" for Win 2003 R1 ?

    afaik no...

but as said above, your anti virus should be able to prevent mp3s being saved on the server...

you should be able to block the file extension within the settings

No, it's only with R2, pity as this does excatly what the OP is looking to do.
