Impressive, haven't listened to him before actually.

    What guitar is that??

Technically amazing but musically boring. I've a couple of his CD's, his cover of Come As You Are is amusing but there isn't too much essential listening beyond that.

It's an 8 string guitar which is specifically made for him. As far as I remember, the 2 lowest strings are bass strings and the rest are standard guitar strings, albeit heavy gauges ala Stevie Ray Vaughan. The bass strings go through a bass amp, the guitar strings go through a seperate guitar amp.

Essentially he's taken the Joe Pass/Martin Taylor style in a different direction. He's more influenced than Hammond B3 players than other guitarists. A lot of what he does is play a bassline while comping, just like a Hammond player.

The track he did with Mos Def was very good.

Hah. Haven't been in this forum for quite some time, and here I find a thread I don't even remember starting. ;)

I'd kinda agree with the Doc in that he can be boring, but I really do appreciate him on a technical level. Never heard the track he did with Mos Def though, must have a listen to that.

Listen to Garage a Trois, I dunno if it's the same as the aforementioned guitar but it's a fan-fretted 8 string afaik.

I love the tone off his stuff in GAT.
