Selling a Petrol to Buy a Diesel

    Im selling my car ( http://www.adverts.ie/showproduct.php?product=29168 ) so i can buy a diesel for vat reasons, anyone got any recommendations for a diesel motor around the 3000euro mark? (i.e what older diesel cars are reliable?)

    To be honest for €3k your pretty much looking at an old school diesel car probably with intergalactic mileage on it. It can be hit and miss regarding reliability though at that end of the market.

    What engine size are limited too? You could look for an old MB E250 or E300 diesel but be wary of knackered ex taxi cabs.

    Others to look at are maybe a Volvo 850 or 940 diesel.

    Since you have a BMW 3 Series may you might like a 325TDS or 525TDS. Same engine was available in the late 1990s Opel Omega too.

    Others that come to mind are a mid 1990s Jap import Toyota Camry 2.2 TD.
