Paddy Power must have the best f**king PR people in the world. It seems they are never out of the headlines.

Paddy Power pays out on this that or the other. It seems it isn't a big story unless there is a mention of a big payout or a silly bet on offer from Paddy Power.

Serously who the hell cares what marketing gimmick Paddy Power somehow managed to tie to a news story. Its not f**king news.

a few years ago I was looking at their website and I saw a section for big brother bets
one was a bet on whether a transexual would have sex on the show

paddy power are great, the bets they let you put on are fun, about a year before the gay episode of simpsons even aired in the US let alone here... Paddy power where taking bets on what main charactor was going to be outed.

So let me get this straight OP

Your complaining about one of the most successful Irish firms doing a good job of advertising their product and doing it well.

    Why?

The marketing guys in Paddy Power are just doing their job of keeping PP profile high in a competitive marketplace. A market place where mostly English and Internet firms dominate. PP would have done well to just survive but infact they have thrived.

Gambling is big business and will always be around (look at the US where when outlawed it just played in the hands of organised crime). So having a firm like PP who are bound by a set of regulations and conduct their business fairly is in my mind good.

Also the seem to have a sense of humour, whats wrong with that?

Actually one thing I do like about Paddy Power is they do a special bet on most Saturdays where in one race if you horse doesn't win they return you the stake ..
So I backed ever horse in the race lol and won at 7/1 and kept all the money I had too on my losing bets hehe

Brilliant cheap marketing, they often refund bets on irish related bets, costs them a few grand and they get goodwill and free advertising in papers that is worth 10 times what they refund.

Reminds me of people giving away stuff on TV shows. Nike give away 100 pairs of runners for some schoolchildren, costs them about $10 in wages in the sweatshops and they have oprah plugging them which would have costed millions.

Ronoc, any good business needs to keep itself in the public eye. Look at Ryanair. Whatever you think about them, they know how to keep themselves in the media. That's all Paddy Power are doing. Their shareholders aren't complaining. Go off and buy a few yourself. Shares are cheap at the moment. Get in while you can and then you'll be delighted every time they make the media. More Power to them! That is what the company name is about. It's not Paddy Power as in Mr. Paddy Power, but as in the Power of the Irish or, dare I say it, "Girl Power". So if the company can power itself into the headlines, great! Don't knock it. They've got you talking about them, so it's working.

Does anyone remember that controversial poster campaign Paddy Power had out a while ago that a lot of people found offensive? I can remember one being an old lady crossing a road and a 4X4 speeding towards her. The other one was a baby sitting in the bath with a turd floating in it. Both ads said something like "What odds would you give?" or something like that. Could someone link me to them or tell me where I could find them.

They were banned by some adertising authority eventually.

You do realise you have given them a free plug, OP? Can't really begrudge them their excellent marketing/PR ploys. I'd imagine their PR guy is the envy of companies everywhere, not just other bookies.
