Hey, just checked the email of my boss, just to weed out all the rubbishy-spam type stuff crap that comes in...

Most of it goes straight into the junk mail, but some does go into his inbox...

Anywho, when i logged in, there was 6 different emails from the Royal Bank of Scotland, asking him to complete Digital Banking Customer Confirmation Form (CCF). What made me suspicious of it is that the 6 emails were all sent out over weekend, 1 Friday, 2 saturday & 3 sunday at random times like 1 in the morning...

Is this a spurious type thing? Or does anyone have any experience of it?

My boss is out for the week, so i can't confirm it but i don't think that the bank account is a RBS one...

If you need any other details let me know, just anxious to find out whether or not to chuck them in bin...

Every week a different Bank. This is one of many such "Phishing" spams. Try forwarding them to spoof@bankaddress. They may take action against the spammer. Generally Banks do not contact custmers this way. Also "Phishing" Emails are generally addressed to "Dear Customer" etc, not the individuals name.

I get tons of those as well and i don't have a Royal Bank of Scotland Account :)
Typical titles are - The Royal Bank of Scotland: Please Update Your Data! (message id: 4175997042)
    or
Urgent notification from customer service! (message id: I41292229497800)
    or
please update your details! (message id: VS498556478680)

    Its spam.

Now and then I go thru my Gmail's spam folder and check the crap people send.

It's amazing how "original" the sites look, even the URL is sometimes almost the same bar a fullstop or extra letter here and there.

One quick check to see if it is a "valid site" there should be a HTTPS in the URL. (Although phishing sites could get clever so beware).

I use Firefox and most of the time when I click on the dodgy bank link, Firefox actually flashes a warning. (good old Firefox)

The best thing to do is never log into your banking site/PayPal etc using a link in a email. Type the URL directly into your address bar.

Yip and like rockal said forward the dodgy email to the bank. The bank should then hopefully shut the site down.

Cool, cheers lads... You were right, the address was http:// not https:// and it was addressed to RBS Customer. Very authentic looking email & site they have set up, scummy bastards...

    Thanks again!
