5) I can connect to wireless network but can't connect to the Internet

Follow these steps to try and pin point the problem:
a) Open a command prompt. Start->run->cmd.
b) In the command prompt type ipconfig /all. If your ip address under your wireless card is 169.254.xx.xxx or 0.0.0.0 then the problem is that you are not being assigned an ip address by your router. If not, note the ip address listed for "Gateway" and move to step c).
c) If there is no ip address listed for "Gateway" then this is your problem. If there is an ip listed, type ping x.x.x.x where x.x.x.x is the ip listed for the gateway. If this ping times out, then the problem is that you do not have a valid connection to your router. If you do get a response to the ping, then the connection between your PC and rotuer is fine, so move to step d).
d) Type ping 66.102.9.104. If the ping times out then the problem is between your router and internet connection. If you get a response, move to step e).
e) Type ping www.google.ie. If this times out then the problem is that your dns servers are not configured.

took this from the wireless faq ..this seems to be the problem im having the letter "b" one...

i just got another computer yesterday and now want to connect both to my router one wireless the other cat5...this router has been working fine wirelessly to my ps3..but now when i tryed connecting new computer..it can see the network and is rated a very strong signal.. and as far as i can see it can join it...but the problem is i cant connect to the internet on it...i tryed to repair it using windows tool thingy and it got as far as the renewing your ip address but then failed..and from there it kept saying limited or no connectivity...

i could see the network now..so im guessing the problem is im not getting assigned an ip address which is why i cant go onto internet..it just gives me one of them 169.254 ip's which im guessing isnt good..supposed to be some private use one..

anyway can anyone help me with this please

You can just give it an IP address and DNS server manually , find the network connection ( under MyComputer-> My Network Places --> My Network Connections) , double click it , click properties , scroll down the list and click on TCP/IP .
Change it from " obtain an ip automatically " to "manual"
Now go do the ipconfig /all thing on the pc thats working.
Copy in the following

Netmask
Gateway
Primary DNS
Secondary DNS

Copy over the Address too but change the last part
eg
if the ip of the working pc is 192.168.1.254 use 192.168.1.120

Click apply / Ok etc and try it then
If its still not working , do the ipconfig /all thing on it again and see if it "took" what you entered,sometimes it doesn't.

Getting a 169.254.*.* ip means you are not connected, there are many possible reasons for this.
A few things to try would be, disable all encryption and try again, try with a ethernet cable and see if that works.
What model router have you? What computer/wireless card is it?
