Talcum power and drying your hands?

You could try some strong antiperspirants
    Driclor,Drysol or Maxim .
These are proper antiperspirants with high aluminium chloride concentrations unlike the garbage you normally buy .
If that doesnt work the next step would be an iontopherisis machine.
I have an iontopheresis machine myself ,the Drionic.
A friend of mine had the same problem as you and he used the Drionic.
A few sessions of that and his hands are bone dry for a few months.
This page here lists all the current treatments available for hyperhydrosis.

lol , i tried washin my hand and drying them well , its really annoying when sometimes your fingertips almost feel like there sticking to the strings , i always wipe the strings and fretboard after playin ,talcum power sounds like an idea though.

Its great when your hands are cold and dry playin is so easy.

    Try FastFret or FretEase.

I can't speak for the medical side of reducing sweatiness, and I can't offer any suggestions to stopping your 'fingers sticking to the strings',

But if you're playing a maple necked guitar, I can extremely recommend stripping the finish off the neck with sandpaper and steel wool. (if you're worried about the neck getting dirty or being unprotected, a light coat of tung-oil will do the job).

Im in the process of doing this to ALL my guitars as time allows, raw maple feels so much better (IMO) and less sticky than the glossy finish most manufacturers apply.

Think this really depends on the finish of the neck, most will have a glossed finish and unfinished fingerboard, but as above, glossed fingerboards do pose a problem.

Don't think I'd go attacking the fingerboard with sandpapaer or steel wool, and I'm not sure how good talcum powder is, but when playing live I've only ever had a small towel sitting on my amp to pick up and use to dry my hands and guitar neck between songs. Might be a bit of an obvious suggestion I s'pose.

I hoped it was obvious it was the back of the neck i was referring to and not the fingerboard...and 'attacking' certainly isn't what i was advising.

my neck has a nice glossy finish its also black so i cant go sanding it , the fretboard is rosewood.

Misunderstood, thought it might have been a bit unconventional alright, apologies.

I had a problem with sweaty hands. The use to get so bad that my finger tips use to hurt and playing became very uncomfortable. My solution was i switched to Elixir strings, the Anti Rust type. My hands still sweat but because of the string coating it dosent become uncomfortabe + they last much longer that any other string *6 i reckon. Worth a Try ?

In my rehearsal room, it gets up to about 40c and you are covered in sweat. Use it to do fast slides up the neck. :)

You could try a couple of armbands. They will stop the sweat on your arms at least.
