    Hey ppls,

Just a quick question about the sky remote control,

We got sky installed less than a month ago and just the other day the sky remote stopped working properly, the channel select and volume buttons dont work at all and the tv guide button only works occasionaly.

Ive tried changing the batteries and still no change...

Has anybody had this problem before? Does this happen often? and more importantly, How can i fix it? :)

    Any help would be great,

    Regards,

    cwynnes

Make sure the path to the TV's and digibox's IR receiver is not being blocked. Are you operating the equipment in a bright room? Overexposure doesn't play nicely with IR remote controls.

    Hey,

    Thanks for the reply,

Iv tried going directly up to the box and it still doesnt work.

When I push a button on the remote the red light on the remote doesnt even flash, the numerical buttons work sometimes, its just odd...

    Anybody have any more ideas,

    Regards

Was any liquid spilled on the remote per chance? If so, contacts on the panel would need to be cleaned.

    Otherwise, maybe remote is banjaxed.

If the batteries die you have a limited time to replace them before the memory in the remote looses the codes for the TV. AFAIK they match the codee for One 4All remote. Check their site for your TV model.

Doesn't sound good. I was thinking about it having the wrong code for your TV but you say it works sometimes. Sounds like that remote is for the skip.

    Hey ppls,

Thanks for all the replies, very helpful

One more question and ill leave you all alone :)...whats the easiest way of getting a replacement control? i can only imagine sky would rip me off if i went to them for one.

    Maybe ebay is the answer.

    Thanks again,

    cwynnes

A lot of electrical retailers stock them: Currys, Atlantic Homecare, etc. They're in Argos and Maplin also.

Buying it new, you'll probably receive a list of codes to operate various brands of TVs. You can find these codes online also.

Just a thought and it may be stating the obvious but may be worth checking. Dont forget to press the "sky" button before using. If somebody had pressed the "tv" button the remote is set to operate the tv and not the sky box.
