Make a bootdisk from bootdisk.com but aren't you going to need the XP disk to install Windows anyway?

have you tried defrag the computer drive, or uninstall and delete some stuff on the drive you don't need, might help a bit

sometimes creating a new user account and using that instead will help speed up startup too

without a install disk, cant really do a full format
