Passport Express

Not sure if this is the right forum to post in but I was wondering if anybody has any recent experience using the 'Passport Express' service that is provided by AnPost?

I applied for a new passport using Passport Express this morning (July 27th), but the trouble is that I am going away for the weekend on August 9th and I need the passport on this date at the very latest.

It says on the form that my new passport should be returned within 10 working days (I need it in 8 working days). Do I have any hope of getting it before I am due to go away?

(P.S.: I know, I did leave it very late :o).

Have you tried their tracking thing on the site?

That gives an estimated date of issue. The earliest they'll get yours now though is Monday, so you could check the tracker Monday afternoon or so.

Perhaps contact them through the site and point out yours needs a bit of a rush?

    **edit***
Crikey O'Reilly - while telling you to check the tracker, I just checked mine - they received my application on the 19th and have posted the passport already. I should have it Monday.
    Not too shabby.

Thanks for the reply. I haven't checked the tracker on the site yet but I will definatley keep an eye out over the coming week.

They seemed quick enough processing your passport, what date did you post it off? Hopefully mine will be out in 8 working days. Fingers cross!

I left it into the post office on the 18th and they had it on the 19th.

No harm drop them an email to say you need it urgently.

Nice one, I'll e-mail them first thing Monday morning.

You could be lucky and get it back in time. It depends on the volume of work they're dealing with. At peak times it takes the full 10 working days.

You should have made other arrangements to be on the safe side if you're travelling within the 10 day period.

Just as an update - mine arrived by Express Post today - not a bad service at all. 6 working days from when they received the application to when they posted it out.

I got my new passport from Passport Express around 2 weeks ago. I was due to get the passport by the 13th but I got a call from a girl in the passport office on the 10th to say that the photos weren't good enough so they would need new ones, I posted new ones to the office in Balbriggan and collected the passport from the main office on the 13th, which was pretty lucky as I was going to the States on the 14th!!.

If you ring the passport office they should be able to speed up the whole process.

I checked the tracker on the AnPost site and it says:

    SENT OUT FOR DELIVERY
    CARDIFF LANE D.S.U. DUBLIN 2
    28/Jul/07

So I sent off an email a few minutes ago to highlight my need for the passport to be sent out before August the 9th. The trouble is I only realized that Monday the 6th is a Bank Holiday so it won't count as a working day! D'oh! :o

    Just a quick update.

Just got home from work and my passport has arrived :D

I sent it last Friday and they recieved it on Monday so it took 5 working days in total to be processed and sent out to me. Great service!
