Three-way all-in rules question

    Howdy,

Had a couple of issues in tournaments where the following happens:

3 players, One chip leader, one medium stack, one short stack.

Short stack goes all in, medium calls & raises all-in, chip leader calls raise.

Chip leader beats everyone, but short stack beats medium stack (both still get no chips and are knocked out)

For tournament ranking/prize matters, who comes 2nd and who comes 3rd? The player with the better hand or with more chips?

I'm fairly certain it should be the player with the better hand, though in the past i've been at tourneys where the player with the larger stack going into the hand comes 2nd.

Disclaimer: Apologies if that is horribly, horribly explained.

It is 100% the player who had the most chips at the start of the hand, so the medium stack, even if he had a rubbish hand, finishes ahead of the short stack.

No it is the person with the most chips before the hand.
This is a standard rule and I have seen it employed in many a final table.

Quoted For Truth. Its implying that the 2nd user agrees with the earlier comment.

(I think its being misused though, always thought it was used to hold someone to an incorrect or flawed statement, so that even if they changed their original post that there would be a record).
