Morning Stinking bedrooms

Anyone else have a room that stinks in the morning?

I live in a little box room and my housemate came in this morning to wake me up and couldn’t believe the stench, to which I was totally oblivious!

I usually have the window a little open for ventilation but not last night!

Is it a mixture of fart, bad breath and lack of fresh air (although I wash my teeth at night before going to bed) that causes this?

Do most peoples rooms smell after a night of sleeping? It must be amplified in small bedrooms.

I know rooms stink even more after sex and theres the “after sex smell” to deal with to.

I think I may get an air freshner for my room to prevent this in future!

Sock bacteria multiply garguantously when out in the open air.

The cause of your problem is probably the fent from stale jocks/stale socks/sheets which have been absorbing sweat/gypo/ fart /and other bodily juices for the last month or so.

Also your mattress is probably contaminated with shedded skin/stale piss from months back and the vageries of bedroom activity over the years.

Dump everything and start from scratch.

I dump everything and scratch everything most mornings, if anything, as I use the ensuite it tends to make the stink a bit worse. Am I doing it wrong?

Never use the en-suite for a dump unless the main dunny is occupied.

Stinks up the whole room and wakes up sleeping partner to the waft of fresh lumber.

    To be avoided where possible.

I have to have my window open all the time, if it is closed for any length I always feel the room getting stuffy.

Also if you have smelly feet leave shoes and socks outside the room. My preference is to throw them out the window but my neighbour isn't too fond of me climbing over the wall to retrieve them.

Aye the auld hum from your room when you have had a feed of Guinness and an a kebab. I would wake up and the bedroom would be smelling damn funky. My sock stink like fu\k as well. When I have a lady friend I steer clear of the stink creators. But there we are so.

ROFL. You seriously need to ventilate your room OP, leave the door and windows wide open during the day, get rid of sweaty trainers/jocks, change all bedding once a week, don't leave damp/clothes towels hanging about.
Oh, and taking a wash now and then should help enormously;)

Yeah 7-8 hours of just breathing and farting in a small unventilated room isn't going to make your space smell fresh.

It's because when you sleep, your flow of saliva is greatly reduced, and the pH inside your gob rises. This causes all manner of changes to the micro-organisms in your mouth, causing stinky breath. When your mouth dries out, REALLY stinky stuff like putrescine and cadaverine (they're not made-up names, I swear!), is released. Also, when there's no saliva to wash them into your belly, skin cells from the inside of your mouth putrefy and release their own funk.

Granted, there are other smells, but these would probably be present anytime of day (if you leave socks everywhere, take a dump with the en suite door open), but the special morning funk comes from your mouth.

    Mmmmm.......tasty! ;)

Wash the bed sheets and dont leave old clothes lying around, at least bag them up. Leaving curtains open helps a lot, light will help kill some bugs.

You can get anti bacterial sprays, if you are out all day you cant leave the windows open but you can spray this and when you come home the dettol smell and nasty smell should be pretty much gone.

Some rooms are just smelly. I lived in a room before and I thought I had BO or some sort of mad problem. Windows open when I was in there which was ok but I'd come back from work and the place would have a horrific hum. I suspect that a past tennant had eaten some festering roadkill, ripped up the carpet, threw up under it and replaced the carpet. Once I moved room the smell stayed there.
