Hi all, I'm trying to decide which of the following cameras to buy through Amazon,

fuji finepix 9mp with 4x zoom with 800iso and real photo technology (rpt)

    canon powershot a640 10mp with 4x zoom and 800iso

canon a710 with 6x image stabilised zoom

my last camera was a fujifilm finepix f10 6.3 mp and the iso was somewhere around 1500 or 1600. im having trouble finding cameras with this high an iso now, is it important to have high iso for quality? my main uses for the camera will be for close-up shots of architectural models, site visits and related coursework and some sightseeing... any tips appreciated, they're all in the same price range on amazon so im mainly concerned with image quality and the lower iso! thanks

Sorry about being rude, however reading this thread - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055036861 - will give you answers to most of your questions.
You are asking about many essential things and it would take ages to answer and explain all of them. So please, take your time, read that thread and we all will be happy to anwer some questions not explained or answered there.

any of those cameras would be an ok compact.
As far as ISO is concerned this is a setting on the camera that makes the sensor more sensitive to light so in theory the higher ISO setting the more light the sensor can record which boosts the image, but with this you will get noise (grain) - all compact cameras suffer from noise above ISO 200 (approx) so for any important shots that you're going to print larger than 6x4 the ISO would need to be as low as possible. 1600 ISO on a compact will result in very muddy prints.
I've a Canon Powershot G7 and is a capable camera - bit pricey tho! but would satisfy all the uses you mentioned, maybe you should look up the G6 and compare the prices if it's still available.
Mechanical Image Stabilisation will aid greatly in image quality much more than ISO, so i'd recommend any models that have that.

Just on another note - I don't think Amazon will ship cameras to Ireland, something to do with the EC directive on electrical recycling charge or something.
