    Hey all,

Has anyone else heard the new company irishpc.com advertising their IT Services? They are constantly advertising on a regional radio station called Beat102103. The adverts are pretty immature, but grab the attention of the listener all the same. They advertise there website as being the "cheapest" places to buy "anything PC". So I checked them out, and there site seemed a bit weird also.

But on comparing them to Komplett, there is no competition. Komplett are still pretty cheap. Just wondering what others thought of them? They are apparently "proud to be 100% Irish Owned".

Actually iv just seen the topic about this crowd spamming Boards and acting the prat. Even more of a reason to stay well clear of them.

I think we all know my feelings towards them. They have been clearly documented in the link in my signature.

I spoke with him on the phone about it today - he has contacted his solicitors already and claims he will be taking legal action. 2k on advertising and for it be wasted by this.. As he said himself. IrishPC.com doesnt come up to well on Google either

He has only himself to blame.

So.. they are cheaper! :p I pointed this out to him, and he claims if you show him any over priced products he will "beat the price". Guess he has lots of money..

    John

biggest generalization if every i've seen one, smaller companies are always going to have higher prices because they can't buy in bulk like Komplett or other sites. But if you're shrewd you can sometimes get the stuff cheaper here if you collect and don't have to pay shipping

An example of some good affordable Irish companies that I know of and have bought from in the past:

www.jaguarcompsys.ie: frequently bought stuff from them for the compsoc I ran in college
www.microaid.ie: decent bloke and very nice to deal with
www.pchealth.ie: Good prices and wide selection
www.hitide.ie: Good for getting those enthusiast parts that few other places sell, again a really nice bloke, running the whole business out of his house
www.peats.com: Again, good communication, was able to get a really good deal from them by ordering some parts online that I would have had to of paid loads to have shipped to Ireland

In response to the comments about irishpc.ie, I couldn't give a toss what the chap is like or what his personality is like. If his prices are better than elsewhere, i'll buy from him. As they are not, I won't.

Personally though, Komplett.ie is old school, all the cool kids now shop at hardwareversand.de ;)

I buy regulary from Komplett. They're excellent. They're now retailing a 500GB internal SATA drive from €99. Check the price on, ahem, other sites.

Komplett.ie are pretty good and besides Peats or Marx Computers (not the cheapest but customer service is excellent), I used to get majority of my stuff from there. They are pretty much the ones I would have sticked to.

I buy things from IrishPC.com whenever I can. I always support companies who pursue legal action against websites that provides information to and interaction between over 100,000 members, funded only by the odd ad and donations.

The world would be better off if more firms like IrishPC.com took legal action against sites such as this one.

Also, I'm delighted that I cannot find their listing on the Companies Registration Office. This contact page on their site lists their name as Computer Supplies Ireland. However when I went to the CRO's search page and searched Computer Supplies Ireland, I found nothing registered with that name. As well as having a grudge against free sites like boards.ie, I dislike anyone registering with our statutory database. If IrishPC.com turn have registered a business name, I may have to stop any contact I have with them.

From the horror stories i have heard about irishpc.com i have no idea how they are still in business. As for the other small companys they sometimes have some good deals, but if you check out hitide.ie and look for the silverstone tj-06 its 400€ before shipping. So you can call that 430€ delivered. Which is a hell of a mark up from the bigger sites in the uk.

Personally i always use uk sites for everything. Overclockers.co.uk have awesome prices but their delivery and customer serivice is clownshoes. scan.co.uk have some awesome products, their customer service is second to none by phone and email. Vadim.co.uk have some great stuff too, but a bit more pricy then other sites. yoyotech.co.uk do awesome bundles and never had a problem with them. kustompcs are awesome too for the hard to find bits.

I try to avoid hardwareversand, as i speak no german at all it makes finding stuff to hard. But they do have some excellent prices. And even though a few lads here order from them and have had no real problems, apart from the wrong version of stuff showing up, i just would not be happy about doing a bank transfer. As with the case of a few lads on boards who have bought from nameless irish companys with bank transfers and never received their products.

Atleast ordering online you are covered by you cc company, with abank transfer you are screwed as there is no comback, unless you can find the owner of the company and take him to court/rob his car :p

They have a link on the right that translates the site into english, the only thing on the site that, bazaarly, isn't translated is Power supply, but the German word for it is Netzteil

I have a few friends in Germany and supposedly this is common practice for companies to not accept CC's. Something to do with ridiculous charges or something. I think there is also some form of protection for Bank Transfers within Germany as well, the same as there is for CC's. Most German ebay stores won't accept CC also. Myself and 2 other friends have ordered from them recently without incident. I was missing an I/O shield out of the mainboard box I received from them. I contacted Gigabyte about a replacement, they refused. I contacted HWV on wednesday about it, they replied on thusday apologising saying they'd replace it immediately, I received the replacement on monday. Compare that to the ridiculous merry go round dirk voodoo had to go through for me to get OCuk to fix a mistake THEY made and their customer services are polar opposites.

HWV has great prices, good customer service and fast delivery. Pretty much everything i'm looking for in an e-tailer

I have never had a single problem with Komplett.ie in all my years using them wouldnt buy anything over €50 in an Irish shop due to the rip off prices.

Tom that link is deadly man :) So nice to see that some dip****s still have no clue about how to use the internet.

    PS

Dip**** from IrishPC.com thanks for the 2k to help run boards.ie so we can all continue to warn people not to give you any business :p

And what is with the website - The first thing that would put me off the site is the random url's... my god they're terrible.
