Butter as part of weight gain diet

I've been having a break from the weights for about 3 months now( started with college exams, then laziness, etc) But getting back into it now. My diet at the moment which I won't go into in detail but it's about 3000 calories/day and around 700 calories of that is from real butter alone. I eat it on potatoes, bread, etc. And I kno it sounds like a lot (700 calories) but its only 100g, if you put that amount on a plate it doesn't look like much.. especially spread(excuse the pun) over a day.

I know if I gave up the butter I would need to make up the calories with weight gain shakes or something (another expense :( )

    Any opinions/advice always welcome.

thats like almost 1/2 a small packet of butter. thats bloody loads tbh. the kcals alone count for just under 1/2 my daily kcals.

You could just cut back on the amount that you use? Though if your anything like me i cant keep it in the house tbh.

Hows about you just get an extra meal or two in?

What about using good fats instead, nuts avocado, etc.Eating that amount of butter is bad news for your cholesterol levels.

Get a ripe avocado, cut in half and remove the stone.Scoop out the part you eat then mash it up with a fork.Add some fresh chives finely chopped, tomato chopped (with seeds removed) and half a lime (or more to taste).Mix it all together and you have a beautiful spread, i guess its a take on guacamole. You can have it with bread, spuds, rice etc.

That's a lot of saturated fat, man. The very worst kind which should be avoided at all costs.
I don't think there's such a thing as cheap quality calories though.
Even an extra litre of skimmed milk a day will set you back 7 EuroDollars.

Thanks for the comments, just btw I don't eat that amount of butter every day. It's only when I'm eating certain types of food. It's probably every other day or 2.

I was thinking about (trying) to replace it with olive oil or something that's not loaded with saturated fats and provides around the same calorie levels.

padi89: Thanks for the suggestion but it's wayyyy too much effort for me ;)

Hey man, you need to think about your arteries, as already said try to replace with good fats.

If you really need the cals Olive oil is the way to go try, walnut oil coulds also be used.

You should really put up your whole diet because it doesn't sound very good.

900calores from real butter is a lot of saturated fat.

On top of that you use it on crap carbs like bread and potatoes.

You should stop using butter or cut down a lot and start using olive oil/nut oils etc.
