I can never fold a set at these stakes on that kind of board in hand #1, I call while thinking "HELL YEAH!" I go broke with QQ in hand 2 as well.

Mother of Jebus, how can you fold in hand one? After calling the flop bet (which I don't do), when it is reraised, you should raise again. You will get called a lot by the guys at these levels. Never fold to that turn card though as played, I don't care if they did turn out to have a higher set, that is not a board to be folding a set on.

Second hand, check behind on the turn. A call of the all in is marginal tbh, you should be behind a lot here, but it is a huge overbet really. I probably call due to the amount of bad players that usually populate those levels, but I would not be confident, although I wouldn't be surprised to see J9 or some such crap either.

at the stakes I'm definately calling both hands.... Then again I'm a station ;)

1st one is a stone cold call every single time, youll be waiting for a long time for someone to tell you that was a good fold even if both of them showed higher sets its still a very bad fold.

2nd one is villain dependant, theres a draw but that was there on the flop so the turn changes nothing. Theres a FD there, theres also the possibity of AJ,KJ,QJ,KQ and a combo draw so im probably calling this more often than im folding. Also i find people are more likely to open push with draws quicker than they will with monsters so im leaning towards a call here but a folds ok with a read.

You seem to be too tight, you need a very very good reason to fold a set and a higher set isnt one of them even a flush board isnt always a good reason to fold, i dont know the odds but id say its substancial for the times youll hit a set and get beaten by a higher set, saying that its probably better to start off as a nit and loosen up than to do it the other way around, you probably wont win a alot but you wont lose a whole lot either. Id start posting more hands.

It seems as though you're over thinking things at $10NL tbh! a set = goldmine.
I expect to see QJ/KJ/AJ there a lot of the time so inta-call.

    Hand 1:
    Don't fold sets. Ever!

    I'd normally re-raise pre-flop aswell.
It makes it far easier to stack someone if you hit plus you gotta punish that min-raise!

    Hand 2:

I might give him credit for a jammy 2-pair here and fold. Depends on the villan really. Have you seen him do this big overbet before?

    Hand 1:
I can't see how you thought you were behind. Only time I'd fold a set is if there's 4 of a suit on a board or if it's 4 to a broadway straight.

    Hand 2:
I'd go for broke here given that your opponents range is very wide but this is probably a hand where you run into two pair.

#1 is a redic bad fold

    #2 i would fold

I can't begin to express how much I hate that fold in hand 1, always call there.

Hand 2, it depends on the opponant a lot, it's marginal either way but against default I think a fold is best.

hand 1 makes me cry. raise the flop. i cant put people on hands at 10nl. wait for monsters and pump the sh1t out of it. i never fold ever there

hand 2 i'd check behind on the turn and fold to the expected big overbet on the river

    Hand 1
Call, I would also reraise when player behind me raised flop

    Hand 2
I prob fold, this board just hits a lot of 2 pair combos villains will call with at this level, but as said by posters above is villain dependent

Shadowless, not sure about reraising oop with 44? We will only stack opponent if he calls with a big hand and we flop a set. If he reraises we have to fold and we lose more money when we dont hit set

Thanks for the feed back. I was positive the 1st hand was a bad fold before I saw the showdown but with 2 of them in it the MUBS said higher set.

If I called both and lost the second hand the combined results would have been:

    Hand 1 - Invested $7.40 - pot $21.40 = +$14

    Hand 2 - Invested $16 = -$16

    Net result -$2.

    Instead the result is

    Hand 1 -$2.20
    Hand 2 -$2.85
Loss $5.05 - Damn I suck at this game.

At these levels expect to see a lot of variance. If you tighten up your range and stuff it in with the better hand you can expect to win the majority of hands that you play although there will be times that someone calls your 4xBB raise with J2 just because they're suited and will get lucky and flop a two pair or a flush draw which they will sometimes hit. In these cases you will always lose money, but rest assured that they are only the minority :)

1st fold is very bad. Never fold sets fearing higher ones until you are much more experienced, (and even then almost never). 2nd one is close either way.

Btw, trips is when you have JQ on a JJx board. A set is when your 44 hits a 4xx board. They aren't the same!

haha me too. I never mind when beginners/casual players use it, but when someone who should know better says it it boils my blood. I dont think its that pedantic as they are actually two discrete situations that play differently. I fold trips much more often than sets.
