I love the bit when he takes out the lads mag to make him feel better

Theres so much more action, while at the same time keeping the stealth elements. The magazine bit was funny as was the barrel. Cannot wait to get this.

Guys, when is this out? Has an official release date been set?

On a different note will "Lair" be released over here too next month? I see it's being released in the US in August.

Play.com have it listed for September:
    http://www.play.com/Games/PlayStation3/4-/3433735/Lair/Product.html?cur=258

But I also read some wherem that the EU release was delayed until October. I cant find the article I read this in again so it might be bulls**t. Even if it is delayed here you can still get it from the states.

Yeah, guys I wouldn't believe any pre-release dates tbh! They are all subject to change although the release date for "Lair" is actually on the Playstation site for the US so I'd be more inclined to believe that.

In relation to MGS4 I'd wait for the Developer to announce the date officially first.

I can't see MGS coming out this year. Unfortunately.

But watching that trailer only one thing comes to my mind. Wow! This game is gonna be spectacular!

Any gameplay footage from an upcoming PS3 title is quite a rarity but this does look very nice!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,225 ✭✭✭Ciaran500

MGS4 isn't out till next year, but before the end of the fiscal year (March).

Gameplay is really looking great, was a little worried how this would turn out but I'm really glad they moved the MGS gameplay on for this one.

If they keep the style over substance crap to a minimum I'll be a very happy PS3 owner

Yeah, just went on to Konami's website and saw the press release and it's "early 2008" it's due.

At the end of the E3 trailer didn't it say worldwide release early 2008?

i never seen a game look so good

i wonder could this game look as good on a xbox 360 (i dought it)

    i can't wait

    i love the octo suit

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,326 ✭✭✭Zapp Brannigan

It most likely could look as good on the 360. But whether it will see the light of day on the 360 is another matter entirely.

    hmm

I wouldnt like to see it on the 360

Yes, more people getting access to a game is a bad thing.

Release-date wise, Ciaran500 covered it, "Q1 2008". Play.com regularly have the wrong date up so I wouldn't take much notice of them.

    .
why its a bad thing because metal gear is a console seller

its a big game for the ps3

Worked for Sony a long time have we?

So? That's something Sony employees would think about, but for the rest of the world, more people getting access to great games is a *good* thing. This is like those people that went insane when DMC4 was announced for 360 (and their petition to stop it, lol).

lads isn't this thread supposed to be about a gameplay trailer?

Not about baiting/slagging/being condecending to a poster because he likes the idea of the game being a ps3 exclusive.

As long as it's being developed for the PS3 first, which it most certainly is, you don't stand to lose anything if it comes to the 360.

    Looks good...very action oriented though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,304 ✭✭✭✭koneko

I'm not baiting, it's a discussion forum and I'm replying to something he posted.

True, but that could be a good thing, it can work out really well when changes or tweaks are made to a series, to freshen things up a bit. It'll be good to see some more gameplay footage, probably when TGS is on.

Apologies if these pics were posted in another thread I missed:

While it is more action orientated, they have retained the games stealth basis. You don't have to get involved in every skirmish you come across. Either way it looks class and will sell consoles for sony.

I wonder how dynamic it is. The narrator seemed to be stressing how Snake *chooses* to help a particular side in the battle, does that mean when you're playing you can help the other side? Can you hide in a corner and just wait until someone else comes out on top? Do battles and skirmish happen and have an effect constantly while the player does other things?

I'm interested in where they're going with that because it seemed really interesting from what they showed. Also love some of Snake's new moves. Particularly the bit where he got shot at from behind, dived on the ground, rolled over and started shooting while lying on his back, that looked very natural and unusual for a game.

High hopes for this. MGS always delivers on gameplay, even though the cut scenes tend to get a lot of the attention. This looks like it's taking it to the next level.

I'm glad I checked this out, I was just going to skip over MGS4 as I only really enjoyed the first one, couldn't get into any of the others, and was not planning on picking this one up due to that.

I must say that the shift to more action looks like it has helped the pace of the game a lot, will be getting this when it comes out.

I think my PS3 has got it's stay of execution after watching the video for it. Looks awesome.

The gameplay video is supposed to be on the US PS store some time today I think.

Not as good looking as I thought it would be, definitely not GoW standard, but I think that is offset by just how much is going on and the variety of ways you can go about the missions. The game looks really good and I hope it's as dynamic as Konami are making out and that gameplay footage didn't have too much scripting in it. Still it looks like it will live up to the MGS name. Can't wait for it even though I don't yet have a PS3.

I was going to lambast you for your post until i realised you meant GoW = Gears of War not God of War!

    :D

I still think that MGS4 is the more impressive game despite not looking as good (although it's close). Features like the excellent AI and atmospheric effects and camo effects put GoW to shame. GoW is just a very good generic 3rd person shooter while MGS4 is a different and more exciting beast altogether.

doubt it anyway, see him holding the PS3 controller?

but a very slick looking game, could be class

Yeah the 'statue Snake' was gripping the other statues shlong. Probably censorship stuff though.

It kinda sucks that's it going to be seperate. It's something I'd definitely try if it came with the game, and maybe end up loving, but I dunno if I'd drop another €50-60 for it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,728 ✭✭✭dazftw

I doubt it will come out on 360? but if it does it will save me a bita cash as the game is the main reason ill buy a console ive played them all dozens of times never got bored!

If he was going to, he would have done it long before now. Did you not see sony's E3 conference where Jack Tretton announced that it was exclusive to PS3. Hideo Kojima was standing right next to him at the time and didn't disagree with him. So unless Konami actually come out and say its going multiplatform I just don't believe it.

looks brilliant, i haven't played a metal gear since 2 so to see how far it's come on since then is astonishing, i'm not just talking about "dem bleedin' graphicz" but the amount of control you now have over snake is immense, the likes of crawling on your back whilst being able to throw nades over your head and the rolling etc.
