Anybody ever played it? I'm playing in their open this weekend and was looking for a bit of info.

    Sounds pretty hilly!

Yeah it's really hilly. Years since I played it so don't really remember it that well, sorry not much help to you. From memory it's a pretty poor course really.

I haven't played it for many years but from what I recall it was quite good. Very hilly but a good test with some interesting holes. I don't recall any issues and the course was always in good condition.

It is hilly. Greens are tricky and there aren't many straight putts. The biggest drawback imo is that there isn't a proper par 5. The only one is downhill, is a high index, and the wind is usually with you. Some long tough par 4's but indexed accordingly. Pretty good drainage so wouldn't have concerns on that front.

Fairways are plenty generous, and there aren't many bunkers. Redid the clubhouse a couple of years back and it is very nice now. Food is good.

Enjoy and let us know what you thought.

Thanks for the info fellas. I'll report back after Saturday on how i got on! Either a heart attack or a cricket score by the sounds of it.

I didn't really like it myself, hilly and mostly very short holes. Quite easy and not much chance of getting the driver out of the bag..

Have to say i really enjoyed it. Quite short, but its a pretty fun course with more than a few interesting holes. Some of the views are incredible too. Especially from the 1st and third tees.

Had a decent round, but a triple bogey 7 on the 9th ruined my chances. Came back in 1 over to finish with a gross 75 and 35 points.

If only i could've played that 9th hole again!!

Is it par 69 or 68? That's a decent score for your first time there. Huge amount of local knowledge required to really play well.

The 9th is REAL tough. That green with that ridiculous step up onto the tier! I assume the pin was at the back. It's litteraly putting up a cliff if you're on the front which pretty much 99% of people are.

I won my first ever prize in the intermediate scratch there years ago. I was through the back in two with probably a drive and a 3 wood! Pin was near me on the top tear and the whole lot sloping away. Hit a 60 deg wedge which, if it hadn't have gone in the hole, I would've been hitting a full 9 iron in from back down the fairway!!

    Good times!

yeh, the local lads i was playing with helped me out with a bit of inside knowledge!

The 9th - i hit a drive up the middle and then a 5 iron in. It went big and right though into the rough at the edge of the 7th tee. I had the valley between me and the flag, which was at the front of the green. Stupidly i went for the flag with my chip. It just missed the side of the cup, but ran on and off the green. had a chip of about 20 yards in. Stuck it 10 feet past and three putted for a 7. Couldn't believe i'd racked up a 7.

as you say though, with a little local knowledge i would have known not to go for the flag with the chip.

    ah well, next time eh!!
