New Wireless Network

    Hi everyone,

I set up a wireless network a while back from my PC to allow a laptop to share my cable internet connection. I now have a laptop myself and want to have the wireless network share files from the PC to the two laptops as well as both laptops getting the internet connection - at present I both laptops can access the internet connection without problems.

After looking at the documentation and mucking about with various configuations of the router (Belkin G+ MIMO) and not getting any results, I am under the impression that the router I'm using doesn't cater for this - all it does is distribute an incoming connection out to points on the network.

Can anyone recommend a router that will do what I want?
The router hasn't given any problems, but I'm under the impression that there are better options out there, can anyone recommend a non-Belkin option?

    Thanks in advance!

I have exactly the same router ,

It will do what you want , however what you are trying to do is set up a home network , and this is not done on or in the router , its done from the main PC. ( if you can already access the net from the laptops then the router has all the setup information it needs already )

You need to use the " set up a home network " wizard , in XP or Vista , this is done using a USB stick or a floppy , run the wizard , it should then copy the settings to the USB stick , and then you bring the USB stick to each laptop in turn.
( what the wizard does is basically set file and printer sharing up on the main PC , and sets your laptops so it can access it )

Thats the easiest way to do it , you can of course , set it all up manually , but I recommend searching google for " Setting up a home network" as the procedure is far too long to type here.
