Sky+ is due to be installed tommorrow and i spoke to the installer tonight regarding installation and he said:

1.He will just run 1 cable, not 2 as i hoped as the older cable is years old.

2.He isnt going to put phone point by the sat reciever as i am not using multi room.

    Is this normal?

Also will my existing card do as long as he pairs it to the box?

    Kind Regards,
    Kieran

    1. Has the original cable degraded much? Maybe you could change the old cable yourself some time.

    2. Really, he is supposed to. But, it'll work grand without it. However, if you use Sky BoxOffice a lot, or other Pay-Per-View services that use the modem, then you'll need to run a phonewire. Otherwise, grand without it, and if lightening strikes your phoneline, it won't bust your Sky+!

    Your existing card will suffice.

Thanks for the reply Byte,Job done today with new cables and no phone line.
    It was nice and tidy.

Just wondering though, say i record home and away, can i view this upstairs on my other tvs which are connected to reciever.
Basically with my old setup we could watch the same sky channel throughout the house, but can we watch recorded ones now or is it just the main tv through scart for replay?
Can does the rf out carry both recorded and live tv feed by selection with remote?

    Regards,

    Kieran

Hi,But if we say kids wanna watch their recorded programmes upstairs then we cant watch our programme downstairs or can we?
I tried putting on the channel menu but the recording playback stops immediately.
Is there any way to overcome this?

    Regards,
    Kieran

    Basically, no.

The box will only allow one thing to be watched at a time. You can't watch two different programmes simultaneously, whether recorded or not.
