walk off the job

    Hi i hired a contractor to do the build for me he came and started on the foundation three days into the job he left and i have been trying to get him back, at what stage should i just look for someone else to take over and also do you think i should not pay this man as he walked off.

    You ask him to come back by a certain date. Put in writing. If he refuses then its a legal matter and unfortunately we dont do legal advice here.

    You can post a thread in the legal discussion forum at that stage if you wish

    That’s good advice IMO. Before it gets legal stressing the before and the fact that this is not legal advice.
    It is good practice to be seen to have given ample opportunity to finish the job to any contractor in the industry. And recording this in writing is the only way to go (and faxes with fax receipt is a good way to record it, e mails are not)
