Saturn on Monkeburgstrasse have good deals, so does MediaMarkt in Altona. There's not much difference in their prices but they both have a sales on every so often. You never know what could be in it so worth picking up a copy of das Bild to see what their current offers are.

    Blame him if it isn't.

Where you really going to buy it in another county/town?

Your best bet is to check ebay and similar sites if you want it cheap and don't mind the wait.

As to what brand, just go with one you know, Sony, Panasonic etc

    or argos

no I wasn't going to buy it in another town....those stores are nationwide...that means they cover all of Ireland:rolleyes: ..soo I figured if there was one in a dixons/argos in Mayo or Donegal it would also be in dixons/argos in Dublin.

    Anyhow its grand,

Going to ask around at work

    Cheers

Argos has some very cheap stuff iirc. Or, if you're not in a rush, Lidl might do an offer on one at some point.

maplins had a mpeg4-looking camcorder for 100-ish. Not sure of the brand or even if it records mpeg4, it just looked like it could :D

    found this link here

"Q) how long does video recoring last? - bex
    A) this is all dependent upon quality settings and the memory card size you choose to use. A rough guide is about an hour on a 2gig SD card

Those things are awful. Poor quality and very unreliable. A semi-decent digital camera will record video just as good as they can.

Bought one about 18 months ago, from Jessop's. Very happy. Had to buy additional editing software, plus PCI card+firewire (Ulead Video Studio 10).
    Very good for the beginner.
You might also see what they have in the airport, and if you know someone going through, get them to pick it up.
I previously got a Canon camcorder in the airport, and got a great deal when compared to the shops in town.
