Reading the stickies above would be a good start.
    Then Google is your friend.
The only Airsoft venue in The Republic at the moment is HRTA http://www.hrta.ie

Stickies be the best bet for starting.

Heres some sites for you to check out reviews and the products themselves:

    http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/news2/ ( reviews)

    shops:
    http://www.eirsoft.ie/store/ (Irish)
    http://www.uncompany.com/ (hong kong)
    http://www.fire-support.co.uk/store/comersus_dynamicIndex.asp (english)
    http://stores.ebay.com/eHobby-Asia-Airsoft-Supplier (hong kong)

The lads here are all really friendly so if there is something you can't find in the stickies feel free to ask.

Few more Irish and UK sites and forums for you:

    http://www.irishairsoftassociation.com/
    http://www.airsoftireland.com/

    Thanks :)

Right, well, ive gone googley eyed reading everything and checking out various retailers.
I still dont know what AEG means, lol.

    Few quick questions,
Firstly, would this be a reasonable weapon for a newbie?
    http://www.eirsoft.ie/store/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=5
How many mags should I be using?
    http://www.eirsoft.ie/store/product_info.php?cPath=26&products_id=8

Next, the HRTA looks amazing fun. Even a few videos on YouTube. Just wondering, do I pre book, or turn up and pay? Do I just play with the people there, or do I need to bring a group? I need full face protection, or just a helmet and goggles? And does anyone know a good site for military clothing?

Thanks, sorry for being a nuisance :D

Ok for clothing you could try this site:

    http://www.flecktarn.co.uk/productsover.html

As far as i know some lads have got stuff from there and said it was good, but they do have great stock and different camos.

I got my camo off of here:

    http://stores.ebay.com/eHobby-Asia-Airsoft-Supplier

Sadly they don't have all sizes. ( well at least when i was ordering.)

And heres an Irish site for army surplus:

    http://www.irishcombataccessories.com/catalog/index.php?osCsid=b9db39cce8039ebd2b674df6ffd7bac3

I got my boots off of there.

For the AEG ( Automatic electric guns ), the one you picked out from Eirsoft is brilliant and Shiva is very easy to get in contact with and his service is amazing! The AEG comes with a 470 round mag it does last a while, but the fact you can clip the g36c clips together, theres no harm in picking up another, especially for the price that Shiva sells them at. Heres a list of the Airsoft products Shiva will be getting in:

    http://www.eirsoft.ie/store/product_info.php?cPath=27&products_id=10

Really depends on what designs you like, and what you think you'll feel comfortable with. I have the Jing Gong G36C and Toyko Marui M4 R.I.S. I personally can't decide what i prefer but for a beginner, the Jing Gong G36C is a better deal, as it is cheaper, comes with battery and charger and a Hi cap magazine, plus it has a folding stock so if you go to HRTA you can go straight into CQB without any hassle.

    For the HRTA question:

    Rates

    Walk on All Day €25.00

    Walk on Half Day €15.00

    Rental All Day €45.00

    Rental Half Day €25.00

    Rental Includes

Aeg Gun, Mask and 200 BB's

    All rental's must be booked

Full face masks are required to participate in events on the field - Goggles are not acceptable, please do not ask - There are no exceptions. Rental masks are available at €1.00 per day. If you do not have them.

    Thats off the site.

I actually haven't been there yet myself ( still waiting on my camo to arrive ) But i was talking to o1s1n and he said high percentage of the guys there will be in camo, protection etc. ( pretty much what you would expect a soldier to look like :) )

    Hope that helps.

Thanks, you guys have been very helpful :D
Is there outdoor combat at HRTA, or is just limited to the indoor CQB?

    Hi and welcome to airsoft.

There are video's on Youtube of some of the HRTA games. Just search for 'HRTA' and you'll find them.

For directions to HRTA, have a look at the link in my sig.

One small little tiny itsy bitsy thing I'd like to ask you. Please don't use the term 'weapon' when referring to airsoft guns. Weapons are designed to kill thus giving the term a very negative connotation. The word is very much frowned upon in this forum, but you weren't to know, so don't worry about it ;)
