Parents wedding anniversary in December and thinking of sending them to Lanzorote for a week. Anyone have any ideas on which resort, somewhere quiet with a beach and some Irish pubs? Also, where to book, budget, falcon etc.? Thanks for any info

I would suggest Peurto Del Carmen. It has a great long blue flag beach. Their are some great steak and fish restaurants. For accomodation the Fariones apts are supposed to be fab - I never actually managed to book them . . From memory its about a 40 minute transfer from the airport.

I'd suggest Puerto Rico in Gran Canaria over lanzarote (I've been to both places). It's not that knackery and can be quiet if you stay by the beach. There's a big square nearby with a fair few Irish pubs and bars and there's also a lot of very nice restuarants. Plus, I've been to both twice (once in December) and i found the weather to be nicer in Gran Canaria. i wouls reccommend Falcon over Budget. I found them nicer to deal with and more confortable.. little things like a nicer charter airline where you had more legroom and got fed etc. I'm not sure about a budget because it's been a long time since we were there in December and the other holidays have been last minute deals. it shouldn't be too much if it's off season though.

We've booked 2 weeks at the El Dorado in Puerto Del Carmen twice now through Thomas Cook and have had a great time both on trips. It's between the Old Town and New Town, close to the beach and has some great restuarants around it. There are a few Irish bars around it too which the oldies usually seem to enjoy. If you're sending your folks to Lanzarote specifically then Puerto Del Carmen is the place to go imo.

I have been quoted 480euro for the San Marcial apartments in Matagorda with Falcon from the 13th to the 20th and 750euro with Budget for Villa Canaima in Matagorda between the 8th and the 15th

Matagorda is a good area, i have stayed there numerous times. Its right next to airport

Would recommend Las Gaviotas apartments- on the beach

I found Matagora nice but a bit noisy- stayed there after getting a cancelation. Its at the bottom of the airport. You could nearly walk to your plane from there
