    Have plugged in a hotel connection. I Use Vista - it wont connect to the server but I am on the internet. Any suggestions?

    They could have some sort of filter on what ports they allow in/out.
    Don't know though.

    A hotels connection would be firewalled. You'd be lucky to get anything more than Port 80 access for browsing as hotels must ensure that noone is downloading torrents and the like and soaking up every bit of bandwidth available. You could try pester the staff about how you can't make a living whilst in their hotel but from working in a hotel, I know that the staff won't have a clue about how to fix it!
