S o Paolo crash

    I just heard that my girlfriend's brother was in São Paolo when the plane crashed - also that he'd driven past the fuel depot an hour and a half before the crash, and that a colleague he was supposed to meet was on the plane. :(

    That brings it a little closer to home...

    Sorry to hear about that mate.

    I heard that the airport is graded just below a red star airport. Black star I think.

    That "carrier" style runway and the quality of its surface were deadly factors, plus weather and commercial pressures probably had to do with it too. Terrible loss of life, i seriously doubt such an experienced crew were to blame though.

    RIP for all involved and lets hope Brazils air safety can be brought up to speed, they had a terrible year.

    Its a very short runway, and if anyone has Microsoft FilghtSim you can see that you really can't afford to have problems with your aircraft or the runway. I overran the runway when I tried it in windy and wet weather.

    Apparently there was one reverse thuster which was switched Off.
