    From RTE.ie
    ==========================================

    At least one person has been killed in a road accident in Co Kilkenny.

    The accident happened approximately 3km south of Thomastown.

    The person who died is a woman, believed to be from Co Kilkenny.

    At least three others have been seriously injured.

    The collision, which occurred between an articulated truck and a number of other vehicles, happened shortly after 9.30am

    Gardaí are advising motorists that the N9 is closed and will remain closed for most of the remainder of the day. Diversions are in operation.

    Motorists travelling between Dublin and Waterford should travel via Kilkenny or any other alternative route.
    ============================================

    according to the AA however it happened North of Thomastown near the Longman

    ===============================================
    *MAIN TRAFFIC* *KILKENNY/N9* The N9 is completely blocked at Kilfane (near the Longman Pub) between Dungarvan and Thomastown. Traffic travelling to and from Waterford should use the N10 and travel via Kilkenny City, or use the Bennetsbridge Road. The road is not expected to reopen before 6pm this evening.

    ================================================
    The sooner the M9 is finished the sooner these unnecessary accidents and loss of life will be ancient history

    Around Thomastown is bloody mental, while traffic is a issue its ultimately speed and people taking chances thats causing these needless accidents.

    James McGarrys wife was tragically killed in that accident this morning, may she rest in peace.

    Sad to see the N9 claim yet more lives. Would be interesting indeed to see the collision figures for the entire road from Kcullen to Waterford. I understand that many sections of this road have accident rates twice the 'normal' rate. Every year there are fatalities somewhere along this route.
