Hey looking to purchase a decent quality television.

Have a couple of options im looking at:

    Samsung:
    HP-S5053
    HPT5064

    Pioneer:
    PDP-5070HD
    Elite PRO-1110HD
    PRO-1000HD
    PDP-503CMX

    Panasonic:
    TH-50PX77U
    TH-42PZ700U
    TH 58PX600U
    TH-50PHD7UY
    TH-50PX60U

    Sony KE-50XBR950

Does anyone have any experience with any of these models/brands and is there one they would recommend or indeed warn to stay clear off?

Which would be regarded as the best value for money..?

Im not really a tech savy person so any advice comments appreciated..

Also where would be the cheapest option to source one of these both online and around the Dublin area? Is buying direct from something like the son centre the best idea or are the likes of Peats or D.I.D generally cheaper?

    Thanks.

PS Mods sorry if this is the wrong forum, pls move if inappropriate.

    Mac

I don't know too much about the various plasmas as LCD's have overtaken them in popularity but Google searching for reviews is probably a good idea.

According to some the Philips 50PF9731D matches the Sony KE-50XBR950 for picture quality at a fraction of the price and the Sony is considered one of the best.

the pioneer and panasonic models you mentioned are all US models.

the pioneers available currently are, PDP-4270XA (42"), PDP-427XD (42") & PDP-507XD (50"). the 427XD is the best 42", great colours on the tv. they also have a PDP-5000EX which is a 50" 1080p, only thing is it retails @ €9K!!!

the panasonic ones available are TH-42PV7, TH-42PV70, TH-42PX700 & TH-42PZ700. the latter two are UK models so they wont work with ntl analogue. the TH-42PZ700 is full HD (1080p).

i have the panasonic th-42pv70, savage tv. excellent picture and great value @ €1599.
