Switching from Full Time IT job to Contracting?

    Hi,

I've worked in IT for a good number of years (always as an employee) and I'm now seriously considering switching to contracting.

Does anyone know of any comprehensive information resources for getting into IT contracting in Ireland? Tips on how to deal with agencies etc. would be especially useful.

    Thanks in advance.

Couldn't you get in touch with a current contractor? You ought to have someone you know who you can talk to about this. If it is someone not specializing in the exact same field as you then they should have no trouble giving you advice.

    Itchy,

I contracted for 12 years (Development, Tech Architect and Business Analyst), straight from college until Apr 2006 - I crossed over to the dark side and became a permie!!

I've done loads of contracts mostly in Banking and Insurance, if you've any specific questions post here or PM me.

    Good luck....
