im trying to hook up my laptop to my lcd

    i have an s-video connection on the laptop and a hdmi on the LCD i bought a s video and audio to scart lead yesterday wont work on my dell xpsm1710 but will work on my girlfriends e machine laptop why is this plz help soon i will have to go back it to maples

    Your lcd should have an s-video connector also. You need to connect s-video to scart or s-vidoe to s-video.

    Don't forget to set your graphics properties to allow a second monitor or cloned display.

    Most likely it's not working because Dell usually use a custom s-video connection that requires you having to buy an adapter from them. Normal s-video connections have six pins, does yours have 7? If so you need to contact Dell as it won't work without their adapter.

    dont xps gen 2's have a hdmi jobbie?
