Need help setting up dish

Hello, recently moved home, its not allowed to put up a dish here so I bough a digiglobe hidden dish.

Ive been trying to set it up all day and it just wont work.

Firstly my viewing card was from another box which is broken, i have another box so i called sky and changed my card to the working box.

With the dish sitting inside my apartment, with the balcony door open (for testing) i can reach the satellite and get a signal, i can view the EPG but viewing any channel just gives me a blue screen.

It does not say "no satellite signal", unless i move the dish.
    So its receiving something.

Now, is this blue screen because sky havent activated my viewing card?

I can turn on the box without the viewing card inserted and still same thing, epg but blue screen on channels.

Now my second problem, if i move the dish outside to my balcony, i get no signal no matter what :(

    What am I doing wrong?
    Please help.

What size is this digiglobe dish?

I take it you're using CT100 cable [good-quality cable for satellite].

Were you able to remove the card from the other viewing box? If you, ring Sky for a replacement. Not having a card won't prevent you from watching anything -- you can watch the free-to-air/unencrypted channels without a card.

You need to activate your card. Again, this involves ringing Sky. You want to pair/marry it to your box to allow you to watch all the channels to which you subscribe. You'll be asked for some details, like viewing card number and box details. All this info is available on the digibox [look under Services --> System Setup --> System Details].

What info do you get when you do Services --> 4 --> 6 [on remote control]? Signal should be 'OK'. You should see 'locked' and '0002' there too [this indicates that your dish is aligned to the correct satellite].

Size is 43cm, im using coaxial cable.

I did call sky to change the card to the box im using it with.
However, i guess this change requires the box to download some information from the satellite, which it probably hasnt done because its been off most of the time.

    Lock Indicator OK:
    Network ID: 0002
    Transport Stream: 07fc

EDIT: Actually when i turn it on transport stream is 07d3, it changes if i leave it on for a while.

Ive seen transport stream change a couple of times.
The signal strength/quality bars are about 75% full.

I have elevation set to 20 and dish pointing east 28 according to my compas (and moved it around a bit until i got network id 0002)

Do you know what channel numbers work on the digibox without viewing card, and which are strongest signal?

I just read something online and I didnt realize the LNB had to be perfectly vertical, i had it at an angle.

    Now it works :)

Ill try move it outside again later.

Actually it should be at a bit of an angle. Twist very slowly while watching quality.

transport id 07d3 indicates your lnb was around 90 degrees out, or rotated 45 degrees in the wrong direction, picking up transponder 3 (horizontally polarised)
Other odd numbers could indicate your digibox software is not up to date.
Perhaps it is difficult to determine exactly which direction this dish is pointing and thus difficult to tell if obstacles such as your balconey railings could be blocking its view of the satellite.

While receiving a good signal wherever you have it, try blocking the signal 2 or 3 metres away from the dish using something like a large wok or oven tray held in the air. This will give you a better idea which point in the sky the signal is coming from and whether you need to repostion the dish to avoid obstructions.
Warning - People seeing you carry out this procedure are likely to report you to the nearest home for the bewildered:D
