Working again, this time in Milwaukee, home of Miller Beer and Harley Davidson.......

Tim Sauter in the #07 was running strong in the top 10 but we had to pit or run out of fuel. As we pitted the #08 (his teammate, Chad McCumbee) had an incident and brought out the yellow. Dropping the #07 about 10 positions as most other got to pit under yellow!

AJ the tyre expert inspects the wheels, "lurch" on the left stretches out for pit duty before the race.

AJ gets warmed up for the race, its insane how quick they remove these nuts!

Fantastic pics, Souper...... ya lucky ba$tard! ;):D

Surely they don't run the tyres that soft when they're racing, though, do they?

Thanks, im glad you like 'em. Not lucky as such I'm just a cheap slut looking for experience with stock car racing and ovals. I'm getting some great networking done too. Getting to test for free would be lucky! :D But yea, I think a lot of people would at least get naked on live TV for a chance to do this. A couple of random drunk dudes were talking to me at the track about how much they would love to work with a team and whatnot. I don't think they get how long and hard these guys work though. Typical day at the beginning of the season started at 6AM and went to 8 or 10PM.

I'm hoping to work at least one more race this year, maybe two, those are the only ones within reasonable driving distance (10 hour drive).

Thats race trim in that tyre photo. Basically you go through tech before qualifying. Once you go through tech you cannot make ANY changes to the car until the race has started, including tyre pressures. So you qualify on race settings. If you do make changes, you get penalised.

I asked Bobby the team owner does that include say a broken oil line for example, and he said yes. Low and behold, later on one of the other teams had an oil pipe bust and had to start from the rear, I guess Im a bad luck charm for some!

That said we were running around 28-31PSI on the right side which is a bit more "normal" for us europeans. The geometry for oval is crazy, opposite cambers and castors on each side. Looks really odd.
