Low Limit hand

Just starting to transition to cash from "play" money games, so be gentle :D

I think I played this hand wrong, the raise on the river should have been a check raise, yes? I shouldnt have called either, but the table was very loose, folded several pocket mid pairs to see the hand go to the river and someone win on a high card/underpair. Tbh put villain here on A8/9 or something, checked the turn becaues i thought they hit trips.

A more general question, when im playing in a low limit game, the players at the table constantly move, so you cant get a read on most of them. If i play too loose i get stung, but you dont get any action if you're tight. What style of play suits these tables best?

Don't min raise, it's just sweetening the pot while you are likely to be OOP. Make it 0.20c preflop.

I think your converter messed up on the flop and turn. Take the results out of your post, they are irrelevant to how you played the hand and may bias the responses you get.

No, it should have been a check call or check fold.

Your opponents aren't paying enough attention to notice, play tight and aggressive.

I know it's cliche to say but you cannot raise medium strength hands on the river. You are only getting called by a hand that beats you. The absolute worst hand you could be facing here is 8-blank and, not saying he couldn't have it at this stake level, it is far more likely he has made a straight or a set.

There's alot of gamble in those cheap cash games and you really need to get the pot in with queens pre-flop to try and narrow down the range of starting hands you are facing so you can more accurately make a decision after the flop as to where you stand. You're raise on the flop is perfect but if you put him on any kind of draw he must have hit it. Even if you put him on a ragged hand there is no reason to raise on the river as taking that risk only minorly increases the pot where you only have a marginal hand.
