anyone know where I can find a struture for the IPC, i'll defo be playing this game here but just wanna see the other structure

well its just another example of why the organiser relly need to get together and put a calander in place where all the buses dont come at the same time.

from a player's point of view the IPC event in 2006 set the benchmark for tournaments in this country and was again a fantastic event in 2007. I believe they have made this particular weekend as much of a tradition as the Open has Easter In a short period of time and the event is in the top three tournaments run in this country each year

This is so true. May was a complete shambles with three big buy - in festivals in a row.

Have to agree with Nicnic here. I played in the IPC in both the last two years and I have to say they were excellently run tournaments with latge fields.
We'll also be doing sattellites for the IPC as we have done before.

JP, if your game was on 2 weeks later, not only would it not be clashing, but a lot of players could play both(like me :) ).Also, with your tourney on 2 weeks later, advertising at the IPC game should be of great help.

Anyway, the best of luck of luck with it.

if the traffic between Dublin & Galway wasn't too heavy on the Saturday you could probably manage to play both Bops, only miss a few levels of the second one :D:D:D

    Hi Nic,

The first saturday thats available this year in the Red Cow is the October bank holiday weekend. I have a €250 FO and €100 triple shoot-out game scheduled for that weekend.

With the EPT starting on the following Tuesday do you think many players would be interested in playing a 2/3 day €550 game that weekend?

I will look to change the date if possible for my winter festival, however i know December is not available due the Christmas shows and the following 2 weeks are also not available.

yes i think u would get a crowd

    JP

The EPT is beyond the reach of the large majority of your target audience. Id say it is beyond the reach of 90% +. Stick on a 500 game that weekend and you will get filled in by plenty of people who due to the talk of the EPT etc will be keen to play a well structured tourney. This would be a fantastic value alternative to the EPT and probably better structured than the EPT and its side events. I would be surprised if you did not receive resounding support.

Whichever you decide i will do my best to attend.

Just off the phone with the Red Cow. They have provisional booking for the rest of January.

If i can't change the date i will change the game i.e lower buy in.

I'm also going to check availability with the Green Isle Hotel.

i think IPC numbers will drop next year due to it being on in Galway, i wouldnt dream of driving 4 hours to get there when there are so many other good tourneys on these days. id play JP's game ahead of it for definite

I don't think it should be a choice there is a core of tournament players who would play both. For me I'd play the IPC as I said it is in the top three tournaments run in the country the last two years the others being the open and ept. The IPC has been the one that is more accessible to many because of the buy in but the championship as far as I'm concerned has huge status.

I haven't played any of the JP games myself but I'm sure I will soon and everything I've herd is positive. I was mealy pointing out that the intended tournament was falling on the same weekend as the IPc.

I tend to agree with what BCB says re the EPT if there was to be a clash then Clashing with an $8000 buy in has a totally different target customer then the €1500 of the IPC

    Hi Nic,

I totally agree with you regarding customer base for a €550 and €1500 game.

I've spoken to Stephen from Poker Events this morning who asked me if i could change my dates as PE have a TV crew organised and they can't change there dates.

I have been on to the Red Cow aswell to look at available options. At the moment the Saturday of the October Bank holiday weekend has a provisional booking down for that day. If it comes open again i will run my €550 game that weekend (people may use it as a sat for the EPT). I am also checking dates with the Green Isle Hotel for early January.

If i can't get different dates, i will hold my winter festival on 4th&5th Jan as my regular weekly players (90% of them would never pay €1500 for a game of poker in anyway) will expect a big game at christmas.

So as to not effect the IPC i will change to buy to between €150-€250

I hope this clears things up a bit.

Yeah have it in October JP and people will use the winnings maybe to play the EPT or even a few sats for it.
    sounds like a great structure.
