Your impressions of the series

Have to say I enjoyed it immensley from start to finish. Its been a long time since I made a point of watching every single episode of a Sci-Fi show. I was hooked since the Pilot, the final scene of a certains characters death, Petrellis election and the bomb exploding hinted at a series that knew where it was going and what it wanted to do. (Unlike a certain other series that "Lost" it way. Guffaw).

Initially, it was a very disperse series. Each of the characters were involved in their own situations, slowly revealing what set them apart. for me, the series gained momentum when characters like Hiro and peter began to discover other Heros and realised they were tied together. (Usually through Issac).

I wasnt terribly impressed with Sylar at the beginning but by the last 5-6 episodes, I thought Zachary Quinto came into his own and made a great villan, his scene with Issac I thought was one of the best in the series.

Hiro and Ando definatley made the series worth watching, a great comic double act as well as providing a heart to the series.

disapponitments :I thought Mohander could have been written in a more consistant way. for a long time, he flitted in and out of the series, I kept wondering what exactly he was there for.
The Haitan could have been used more.
We could have done with more expansion on the original Heroes. Maybe Heroes neede another episodes..

    Other thoughts?

Just finished watching the finale now - a pretty good end to an excellent series.
It wasnt perfect by any means - some of the characters were underused ('Nikki' especially) and I think it was all a bit too serious on occasion (with the exception of Hiro, all the characters were pretty straight faced).

But its a tv show, and these kind of problems were inevitable. Rarely has a show got so progressively better as time went on - the last third in particular just threw out classic after classic.

The wait for season two to begin starts now.

Not a classic by any means imo. Wouldn't be overly pushed about seeing s02.

Maybe it had been over hyped by my friends who watch it but I after watching season1 I never felt like I 'really' had to see the next episode; more like it was just ticking over enough to keep me interested.

Finale was a big let down imo tho. All the build up and then...nothing :(

In the first half (save the cheerleader save the world) I was pretty captivated. All the writing was spot on and even Nikki was interesting to wonder about back then.

While the main plotline never got thin as it progresses, eventually they stopped intertwining it with the rest well enough and then the other characters just turned to muck - like Nikki and DL.

Expectations for season2? A bit more action - we've done the discovering-powers bit (and they should still do) but they need to respect the Heroes that already have a great deal of ability and let them put it to use: like when Future Hiro and Peter were breaking into that building....that was the most disappointing **** ever: they need to go read some comics and learn how to choreograph a good hero-battle.

I wont make any hopes for character development though - I gotta leave something o suprise me when the season comes out :) except to say I'll be interested to see where Sylar ends up.

Peter said to Nathan something along the lines of "....help me...I can't stop it....I can't do anything" - so presumably his powers were paralysed or something.

well he was loosing control so he may not have been able to use his other abilitys because of that, makes sense to be honest

I wanna know why Claire just didn't put a bullet in him, instead of wasting Nathan. There was also a sword handy too, you know....

Overall I was impressed. Hiro and Ando were by far the best charachters imo. I never liked Peter Petrelli or the whole Nikki/Jessica/ DL story lines though.

For what it's worth, the comics on the Heroes mini-site are an interesting way of giving you a bit more background on the characters, plus they're still updating them every week while we wait for season 2.

It's not the best show I've ever seen, but it was entertaining, consistently written and managed to avoid the pitfall that most american mainstream comics fall for (which is setting up an ending consisting of two sides punching each other for most of the episode). I know it seems to have thrown a lot of people but I liked the way that the series ended.

Hopefully season 2 won't have a dip in quality.

My impressions where the series did start off slow and you can tell when they change the whole story and Syler changes with it

None the less there's some excellent writing involved and now I've gotten my fiancée to start watching it :)

I thought it was great. Very entertaining show.

It wasn't perfect but I found most the quirks quite endearing.

    a question for everyone
ive heard so many good things about HEROES , is it as good as PRISON BREAK

I was raging! They totally wasted the finale. Both of them had so much diff powers, I was expecting a huge epic battle but they just punched eachother a little and that was it. Very very pissed with the finale as it was building up to something amazing gaining momentum after each episode. Anticlimax

Saw the first 3/4 eps on sci fi-wasnt really impressed, it was pretty average
Then , about a month later[having stopped watching]saw repeats of eps after 4 on catch up night-they were okay/good so stuck with the show, and every ep was then on was better than the last[from around ep 10, each one was a blinder] until the finale, which was sorta a letdown.....

Two completely different types on television shows to compare them imo. I enjoy both though but not everyone would agree.

I felt it was a very well-written show with characters who were more complex than you would normally get on a TV show. Noah being a good example.

I also liked the duo of Hiro and Ando. Hiro seems to get most of the credit for that but I think Ando's great. :D

Hiro and Ando kind of remind me of Frodo and Sam in the Lord of The Rings. I always felt that in LOTR Sam was the real hero. He was the normal not special guy who did something great. If it wasnt for him they never would have achieved there goal. I think the same can be said for Ando. He is the real "ordinary person doing extraordinary things" because he does'nt have any powers but went on this epic journey with Hiro who wouldnt have completed his mission without Ando.
