Does anyone know if a XPS currently with a
Pentium 4 EE can be upgraded to Core 2 duo?

    Socket 775LGA

    Mainboard is a Dell 0U7084

    Chipset i925X (RevB1)

Research tells me that it can be done i think but I couldn't
find one example of someone upgrading this model of PC.:o

Nope, you won't be able to, unfortunately. The board was manufactured before C2D's various requirements (such as VRM specs) were made public, most likely.

Yeah c2d are socket 775 but your dell mobo would be a different type of socket 775, basically an earlier version..I don't think this has happened with any other socket type before? So it's quite confusing....
