Looking through some of the posts in this forum, it seems to me that if us Galwegians play our cards right we might be in for a bit of an opportunistic windfall. So who's planning on babysitting, selling home made booze, renting out your apartment/room/dog kennel? Me, I'm renting out a patch of, er, standing room out here in the wesht.

Double pay all week long, and Monday to Thursday will be DEAD. I have my sister's wedding on the saturday, and I'm currently working for it, but I might see if I can just leave the wedding at half five, skip the meal, and be back by ten. Maybe, if the sister allows it.

I babysat in the G last year, my God was I glad I did! I went to Ladies Day & worked every other day. Got €200 most nights (they just seemed to round it up!) for watching tv & checking on babies every few minutes, unreal! Was saving for a new house & it went a LONG way towards helping me!

Seriously?? Did you not think of organising the day off for your sisters wedding??I dont know your circumstances but you really should'nt be thinking about leaving it.

I totally agree with you, but I went on holidays there last week without having arranged someone to cover for me, so they basically were one man down for the weekend, and as far as I can see, there's nobody to cover for me again this time. So if I do it twice, I might get fired.

Well when it takes 10-20 minutes to get a drink I don't see the point nor am I in the mood to tip.

Yes but if you did tip then the barman wouldn't let you wait that long again. ;)

While I think Race week is over-rated (except Thursday), it's remarkable how safe the week is, considering the crowds and the drinking.

It's always smothered with Gardaí, I've never felt anything but safe!
