It's our 7th outing in the championship and still no satisfactory level of coverage from our national broadcaster. Do the Louth boys who put in the hours upon hours of training and compete at the same level as the players from Dublin, Tyrone, Galway, Mayo etc not deserve the same level of recognition?? Do we the fans not deserve to be treated in a similar manner to those of other counties?? They have no excuse not to show the game in Saturday. Lets put some pressure on.

I wouldn't bother.. coverage of the Louth v Kildare game was shocking..

I struggled to see Paddy Keenan's goal with the sun in my eyes - was looking forward to having a good look at it last night only to see.... Paddy Keenan's goal with the sun in the camera. I suppose that we should be thankful they got the ball hitting the net even if they missed the most of the build-up..

One stationery camera provided for the match says it all...

it could be a fair argument, but sending a few e-mails to rte will not make the slightest difference......

There is no other big games on saturday - so im hoping rte do a double header and show both the meath and louth games. Michael Lyster is a big galway man so im hoping that will make them show the meath game

how about a few of you "supporters" go the games instead??
the louth team who "put in the hours upon hours of training" was watched by an attendance of less than 1000 at the recent louth limerick championship game...

    aidz,

in defence of the Louth supporters - the decision to have the Limerick game at 7pm was absolutely ludicrious. I've been to all games this year bar that as the time just didn't suit as I had kids football the next morning so a stay-over wasn't on the cards... I think a lot of Louth fans stayed away due to that but generally, our support has been exellent this year...

Dunno if it will make a difference but its worth a go. TG4 weren't going to show the Division 2 final last year against Donegal but after a bit of pressure, they succumbed and showed the match. It's worth a shot.

We outnumbered the Limerick fans by 5:3 - and they only had to travel up the road. I think that says it all.

In fairness, and I'm a Louth fan, I can't really blame RTE for not showing Louth v Limerick or Louth v Kildare!! They don't generally show many back door games anyway do they? They certainly have no excuse not to show Cork v Louth though because I think this could be a cracking game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,460 ✭✭✭Orizio

It could be cracking, but I doubt RTE will see it that way. Most will wrongly see it as an easy Cork win.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,742 ✭✭✭blackbelt

Not an easy Cork win but not wrongly a Cork win.On paper and on form, you can predict a Cork win but I think they will only do the business with 4 points to spare with Louth putting them up to it.

As far as tv coverage is concerned, well Meath-Galway might be seen as a mouth-watering fixture so I'd expect to see that televised

I heard they might be showing both games. Is this true?

On the RTÉ website they say they will be televising

    28 JULY
    All-Ireland Championship Qualifiers X 2

No mention of what they are though.

    From RTE website...

    21 JULY
    All-Ireland Championship Qualifiers X 2

Mind you, I wouldn't give that too much creedance..

Ticket in the back pocket anyways so not too bothered - strange feeling to be buying a ticket to see the wee county in the Championship in late July - god help us all if we get any further...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,742 ✭✭✭blackbelt

Well it is a double-header in PortLaoise and with all the anti-Cork GAA bias one should not be surprised to see Cork-Louth on the box.

I feel the same myself, if it was the BBC you'd be in no doubt.

You get the ticket on ticketmaster. I take it there is still loads left.

Yeah your right about us going so far. I keep having to cancel stuff every weekend as now louth seem to be playing. I'd hate to be like kerry or something, jesus those fans must have no life at all...:D

Pfft, don't you know they only go to two games, one in July in Pairc Ui Chaoimhe or in Austin Stacks,Killarney and one in Croke Park in mid-September.

Louth4Sam, tickets on sale at TicketMaster - terrace tickets only. I don't think they'll sell anyway quick to be honest..

I'd say RTE will hold off on announcing their schedule till some of the tickets are shifted..

Bought 2 at lunchtime, prob wont sell out but better safe than sorry.

Tommy Lyons and Dara O'Cinneide join Michael Lyster for live action from the evening's All Ireland Football Senior Football Championship Qualifier. Marty Morrissey and Tony Davis provide the commentary with throw in at 7.00pm.

Do you have a link for this? Cant find any mention of it anywhere.

Galway Meath is listed on the main sport page as being a live webcast (4pm as scheduled) so looks like that'll be the one on the box also.

It's a shocking website with different parts at odds with each other with regards to what they are showing but think the webcast listing has been fairly accurate over the past few weeks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 813 ✭✭✭dave13

Yeah cant imagine the GAA changing the time to suit RTE. They might be in danger of promoting the sport then.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,171 ✭✭✭paulocon

Time won't be changed as it's part of a double-header with the Louth Cork game at 2...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 797 ✭✭✭meathman 007

not sure what to make of it - i just checked my sky+ planner and it says that 'the saturday game live' starts at 6.30pm - it dosnt say who is playing but it does say that is a football qualifier.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 573 ✭✭✭rebs23

Says in the papers this morning Cork V Louth at 2pm and Galway V Meath at 4pm. I'd say those times are correct and that RTE will show the Cork V Louth game but will hold off on announcing it until tickets have been sold.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 238 ✭✭GalwayDub2

Yep, the Galway -v- Meath match is definately on at 4pm. I just double checked with our boss who is on the Connaught Council and the time hasnt changed.....unless of course Louth -v- Cork goes to extra time...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 797 ✭✭✭meathman 007

the louth v cork game is now LIVE and coverage is starting at 1.30pm on rte 2.......
