Looking for PC Backup Recommendation

I have a Dell 5000 system which has a DVD read-only drive and a CD 48x R/W drive. I'm looking for something to allow me to do complete system backups - an external DVD writer maybe? Can anybody recommend a hardware/software combo that would do the job? Preferably something I can get in town (Cork).....thanks.

You could buy a cheap second HDD, and a copy of Norton Ghost.
Use this method myself, not very expensive, easy and extremely reliable.

external hard drive is the most reliable and fastest method, Dixons are selling a 360GB for €99 this week

External hard drives will probably come with their own backup software. I like Microsoft's SyncToy. I use it with an external hard drive [NAS].

I'd also recommend Acronis True Image 10.
