Missing Key on Laptop Keyboard

    Hi,

Bit of a random question. The 'F' key randomly popped off my laptop one day when I was typing. This was ages ago, so I've now lost the key. You can still hit F and it works, there's just no key on it, but I'd like to get it repaired. Anyone got any idea where I could get this done? It's the only thing wrong with my laptop which I want to sell on and upgrade and I'd like to have it in perfect working order for a new owner.

    Thanks.

hmm, same thing happened to me with my dell laptop, except i still have the key and i glued it back on but i dont think you can buy the keys separate, maybe try a electrical shop or something like dixions, they might have them but i'd doubt it

I would say it is most unlikely any electrical retailer would stock laptop keys. If you think about it - how many makes/models of laptop keyboards are out there, they are not all standard, like normal desktop keyboards.

E-bay is your best bet, or, check out some of the stickies at the top of the forum.

you are looking for a whole keyboard for that model of that range of that brand of laptop

if you are lucky then you could rob an unused key like the ¬` one if it's the same size. usually they have a scissors lift mechanish to hold the keys on - one end clips in the other end goes in first - very fiddly but doable

post the model of laptop in case someone has a dead one they can rob a key off
